Centralized Gambling Self Exclusion List by U.S. State

Gambling Self Exclusion List State

Gambling self-exclusion is a program that allows an individual to voluntarily ban themselves from entering a land-based gambling establishment (casino, race track, et cetera) and from accessing an existing account on a gambling app / website. These programs are designed as a part of U.S. state and gambling operator Responsible Gaming (RG) initiatives, allowing those who recognize that they have a problem with gambling to take a break or outright quit.

In select U.S. states, there are centralized gambling self-exclusion programs in place. These programs represent a unified approach to RG that allows individuals to exclude themselves from multiple gambling venues or platforms through a single registration process. The registration process is generally facilitated by a given state’s gambling commission.

Centralized self-exclusion is beneficial because of the following:

- Limits the time and effort required for a resident to self-exclude themselves from all regulated gambling operations in their state.

- Limits the time and effort required for a resident to self-exclude themselves from all regulated gambling operations in their state.

- Limits a compromised resident’s exposure to triggers to gamble that may occur when visiting a gambling venue (on-premises or online) to register for self-exclusion.

- Provides the state with valuable information about problem gambling prevalence rates in their population.

- Provides regulated operators with with valuable information about problem gambling prevalence rates in their player base.

While the comprehensive nature of centralized self-exclusion has emerged as a crucial tool in promoting safer gambling practices, only a select number of U.S. states offer it. Further, few individuals are aware of whether or not such a program exists in their home state.

As America’s preeminent provider of problem gambling support, Kindbiridge Behavioral Health has put together a gambling self exclusion list by U.S. state for individuals to reference. Have a look at the map below to quickly identify if your state has a program, and find your state in the list (under map) for links to resources in states that do.
